ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we consider the processes occurring in a solidwhere the laser

energywell in excess of the equilibrium enthalpy of melting is deposited dur-

ing the pulse time shorter than the major relaxation times. We know that

such a pulse excites only the electron subsystem; afterwards energy is trans-

ferred to the lattice by the action of electrostatic field of charge separation

and by electron-phonon collisions.
