ABSTRACT

The particle plasmon resonance (PPR) property of noble metal nanoparticles allows label-free and real-time detection of biomolecules. To enhance the signal derived from this property, the use of optical waveguide sensing technology further increases the sensitivity of the PPR biosensing technique. The optical waveguides described in this chapter include optical ϐiber, planar waveguide, and tubular waveguide. The principle for this improvement is discussed.
