ABSTRACT

Nanotechnology can be defi ned as the study of the control of matter below sizes of 100 nanometers, often on a molecular or atomic scale. The term “nanoscience” is often utilized interchangeably with “nanotechnology.” The prefi x “nano” is an ancient Greek term meaning “dwarf.” Efforts in

nanotechnology and nanoscience often center around the construction or application of molecularly, or perhaps even atomically, precise structures for use in various applications.
