ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses research at extreme conditions at high pressure and simultaneous high temperatures by means of stateof-the-art X-ray diffraction techniques and sample environments employed at third-generation synchrotron facilities within the Diamond Anvil Cell (DAC). It also discusses new experimental approaches involving time-resolved experiments at extreme conditions and its application to structural studies using powder and single crystal diffraction at third-and in future at fourth-generation light sources.
