ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we outline key aspects of magnetic X-ray diffraction. Common uses and limitations of the technique are described. As an example, we consider nonresonant magnetic scattering from a relatively simple antiferromagnetic structure, and the techniques for calculating and measuring its angle dependence. Finally, we discuss some studies where resonant magnetic X-ray scattering plays a unique role, and consider future trends and developments.
