ABSTRACT

In this chapter the state-of-the-art face detection and recognition

algorithms are reviewed. Several classical face detection approaches

including AdaBoost, Gabor neural network, neural network, rank

deficiency, and SNoW are introduced. Their performance is evalu-

ated against a publicly accessible database. The evaluation results

demonstrate that SNoW algorithm has the best accuracy while

AdaBoost is the fastest face detector. Afterwards, face recognition

algorithms, i.e., Eigenface, Fisherface, and Tensorface algorithms are

summarized and evaluated over publicly available face databases.
