ABSTRACT
The first oil crisis of October 1973 triggered many various activities in the Danish countryside. How was it possible to maintain the supply of electricity and heating using local resources from the wind, sun and biomass? This debate happened on the Island of Ærø as well, located in the southern part of Denmark facing the Baltic Sea.
