ABSTRACT

This paper reviews the main building blocks for the generation and detection of a broadband Terahertz (THz) wave. The role played by GaAs and InGaAs grown at low temperature in frequency down-conversion is described, including material growth and device performance. A photonics-based beating source is also surveyed for the realization of a compact and cost-effective THz spectrometer. In addition to the material and device, the THz field applications using THz devices are described.
