ABSTRACT

Metal-organic material (MOM) derivatives are organic-inorganic

hybrid compounds characterized by typical arrangements of metal

units and organic ligands, as shown in Fig. 13.1; these materials

showing several periodicity degrees are exemplified by different

groups of either discrete or polymeric structures. Although MOMs

have existed for several decades [1-7], it was not until the early

1990s that they captured broad attention as it became evident that,

typically, they are facile to prepare and easily adaptable to crystal engineering strategies [8-17].
