ABSTRACT
Cellulose fibers used for paper production come mainly from long-lived land plants such as forest trees and cotton. The unique properties of this material and its usefulness for papermaking purposes are the result of the properties of cellulose itself and the sophisticated structure of the fiber cell wall.
