ABSTRACT
What is the point of carrying out an analysis of the numismatic
iconography of Christ rather than harking back to studies, also
well developed, of His image depicted on icons, sculptures, and
bas-reliefs? The answer is simple: Coins are easier to date back,
even in very short periods of time; therefore it is easier to make a
chronological reconstruction of the historic-iconographic path of the
subject studied.
