ABSTRACT

It is well known that the discovery of a new material opens the

way to new fields in science and in technological applications.

The discovery of graphene is surely not an exception. From

around 1980 many discoveries of new materials have been

reported: quasi-crystals with five-rotational symmetry, high-Curie-

temperature superconductivity in cuprates such as (La-Sr)2CoO4,

superconductors made of Fe and As elements, magnetic multilayers

that resulted in the discovery of giant magnetoresistance (GMR)

and tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR), magnetic semiconductors

such as (Ga-Mn)As, C60, carbon nanotubes, and the new permanent

magnet Nd2Fe14B called Neomax. The establishment of fabrication

techniques of Ga-N should also be highly approved.
