ABSTRACT

The most common performance measures for Die Sink EDMing are: material removal rate (MRR, mm3/min), tool wear ratio (TWR, Volelec/ Volwork (%)), and surface quality of the eroded cavity (μm Ra) (Kechagias et al, 2008). Due to the EDM mechanism, the part and the electrode are eroded at the same time. EDM performance is affected mostly by the pulse on-time, current, pulse off-time, gap voltage, flushing pressing, dielectric fluid, and electrode shape.
