ABSTRACT

Bone tissue engineering is a discipline that involves the use of biology and engineering principles to create bone substitutes, be it due to the removal of bone tumor, bone fracture or deformities. A more popular approach is to use the combination of cells, growth factor, and three-dimensional structure called tissue scaffold. It is neither limited by the lack of tissue donors nor the amount of raw materials, and the tissue scaffold can be customized according to patient’s defect condition (Hollister et al., 2001).
