ABSTRACT

Laminated object manufacturing (LOM) was developed by Helisys in the mid 1990s. The name has come to refer to the entire family of processes.

In this layer laminating process, material coated with adhesive is successively glued together on a laminating platform or a semi-finished model and a part’s contours are cut out by a laser. LOM makes it possible to produce large-volume models of medium complexity with a dimensional accuracy of 0.1 to 0.2 mm.
