ABSTRACT
In order to systematically assess the effects of maintenance programs in terms of availability and cost, a global modelling framework has been propounded [Bérenguer et al. 2004]. The approach is structured and modular, and takes into consideration the influence of the operating and environmental conditions on the component failure behaviour. Maintenance activity effectiveness is also modelled, including the ability of detecting degraded states and correcting them to prevent failures.
