ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the core aquaphotomics terms and its methodological approach in order to present the most basic foundations of aquaphotomics. It shows that water spectral pattern as an integrative marker brings a rapid, non-destructive assessment of the functionality of different systems which are in interdependent relationship with soil and all of which in the end contribute to the human health as well. Through the examples of how the aquaphotomics technology works in the areas of water quality, microbiology, plant health and others, a parallel can be drawn that the same is possible for soil health, and the same is already proven possible for human health monitoring. The ideas presented will, hopefully influence the readers to also see the soil as a complex system, of which water is an intrinsic part, influencing and in turn being influenced by all the other chemical, physical, and biological components.
