ABSTRACT

Intestinal obstruction is a common problem among women with progressive ovarian cancer, occurring clinically in up to one-third of patients [1] and found at autopsy in 51% of cases [2]. Many patients presenting with bowel obstruction have previously been treated with multiple chemotherapy regimens or radiotherapy and have limited therapeutic options. Survival of patients with malignant bowel obstruction in the absence of any intervention is usually less than 3 months [1,3].
