ABSTRACT

Energy conversion of solar photovoltaic is a direct process. The solar energy available in the form of irradiance is directly converted into electricity using solar cells. The temperature effect is very prominent in solar cells. However, in this case, the current is almost immune to temperature change. At a fixed irradiance, the current generated by a solar cell mainly depends on the band gap of the semiconductor material used. The fabrication of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell and organic solar cell is even simpler. Light sensitive dye can be coated on cheap plastic or ceramic substrates to form the solar cells. The lamination is done to protect the solar cells from the external environment after installation. Solar constant is applicable to outside Earth’s atmosphere and the atmospheric mass is zero. The cost of such solar cells is very high due to costly materials as well as processes, such as deposition and photolithography.
