ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the interactions of microalgae in synthesizing the various nanoparticles (NP) which are currently being researched and their role in the field of nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is playing a vital role in the field of science and engineering, and is also an emerging field of science and technology that includes the synthesis and development of countless nanostructures and fabricating nanodevices. Many trials have been conducted to evaluate algae as fish feed, and whole and dried algae have been used as a partial or complete replacement for other fish feed. The abundant availability of algae makes them a good source of biomaterial for the massive production of metallic NPs. Silver NPs also possess antibacterial properties and are used in many everyday commercial products. Many metallic NPs like silver, gold, iron, etc., are released into the medium through the intercellular channel and embedded in the polysaccharide network.
