ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a method for optical character recognition (OCR) of handwritten isolated Bangla characters. In this approach, a standard-chain code-based feature is applied to a database of more than 89,000 handwritten characters, and it provides very encouraging results. The feature is also applied to two publicly available benchmark databases of isolated characters, namely the ISI handwritten character database and CMATERdb3.1.2 for comparative study, which shows that our approach gives better results compared to previous studies.
