ABSTRACT
The relationship between seed dormancy and success of a plant as an agricultural weed is significant. The existence of large populations of weed seed with varying degrees and states of dormancy is the basis for the annual weed problem. Dormancy allows a weed seed to avoid germination when conditions are not appropriate to complete its life cycle and prolongs population survival in the form of a soil seed bank.
