ABSTRACT

Symbolic dynamic modelling of complex human motion is gaining increasing importance in engineering of sports. In particular, the development of general dynamic models which describe a variety of human motor activities represents a fundamental stage in obtaining more sophisticated forms of optimal motion. This paper gives a brief overview of the symbolic dynamics modelling of take-off in jumping and diving, based on Kane’s method in association with Amirouche’s algorithms for inverse dynamics. Examples of computer models with initial results are illustrated and some practical aspects of correlation with experimental results are discussed.
