ABSTRACT

In the present work, a simple microwave-assisted solvothermal technique has been adopted for the synthesis of tin oxide-zinc oxide (ZnO) nanocomposite. The prepared nanocomposites were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectrum analysis. The prepared samples were agglomerated and spherical in shape. The degradation mechanism of malachite green dye at different interval of time under UV light irradiation was evaluated using the prepared nanocomposites as the catalysts. Degradation efficiency with respect to irradiation time was calculated for the prepared samples. The higher photocatalytic activity was observed for ZnO nanoparticles as a catalyst.
