ABSTRACT

Based on the data obtained from a social communication survey of African college students in Jinan, this paper uses Ucinet to construct the social network based on the strength of ties to map to their homeland and school. The results show that: (1) The geographical proximity of the homeland is not the main factor of the social network of African college students in China, but plays a more important role in high-frequency communication. (2) Increasing urban expansion has hindered the interpersonal relationship of African college students in China. Jinan University Town has not played its due role in promoting mutual sharing and communication among different universities. (3) Most African college students regard the current geographical proximity factors as an important factor in social communication.
