ABSTRACT
Between 1962 and 1965, some 2750 mud-brick houses were built in Marrakech (Morocco) by a French engineer who modernized the material, the tools and the building site. He then realized 200 houses in Ouarzazate in collaboration with a Belgian architect. Through the analysis of the course of these operations, this article will show how a material can be the bearer of an ideology.
