ABSTRACT

299The Jisso technology of optical fibers involves various techniques, such as alignment, fixing, packaging, and various inspection techniques. Coupling optics that need the optical fiber Jisso technology include various types of systems, such as fiber/optical waveguide, laser diode (LD)–fiber, fiber–photodiode (PD), and fiber–fiber coupling. It is necessary to optimize the technique according to the bit rate, coupling efficiency, long-term reliability, and cost required in each coupling optics. The structures of coupling optics to which the optical fiber Jisso technology is applied are summarized here, as are alignment, fixing, and inspection used for those structures. In addition, packaging methods are briefly described.
