ABSTRACT

In the wet-dry cyclic environment, it is suggested that the chloride ion penetrates not only by concentration diffusion, but also by water movement advection. In this study, a chloride ion penetration test, subjected to 3 different dry environments is carried out to experimentally clarify the effect of water movement on chloride ion penetration, and to verify a chloride ion penetration model considering water movement. From our experimental results, we found that the penetration property of a chloride ion is extremely different in response to humidity in a dry environment. And the verification result of our chloride ion penetration model considering water movement based on experimental results, although this model has some reservations, it is confirmed that this model could forecast the penetration property of chloride ion subjected to wet-dry cycle.
