ABSTRACT

In Japan, the deterioration of RC decks is one of the most important problems in maintenance of road bridges. In order to achieve the efficient maintenance of road bridges, it is important to recognize the state of decks. Main existing methods to check the state of decks are visual check and loading test with heavy vehicles. We can easily check the damages on surface of decks but we can’t estimate the mechanical property of decks. And we can check the mechanical property with loading test with high cost and hard work.

Then we have tried to develop the simple testing method to survey the mechanical property of bridge decks. In the past researches, we developed the simple evaluation method with FWD system and we use the deflection of decks to evaluate the state of decks. In this research, we try to survey the detail of damage state of bridge decks with vertical acceleration given by FWD test.
