ABSTRACT

I. INTRODUCTION Research on supramolecular assemblies of optoelectronic materials is an active and rapidly developing interdisciplinary field involving chemistry, physics, and biology and is related to the technological development of material science, information science, and microelectronics. However, the corresponding definitions of supramolecular assemblies of optoelectronic materials together with a description of their scopes have an unclear meaning. During the past few years, studies in fields such as the synthesis of molecular-based materials to construct supramolecular assemblies, organized assemblies of nanoscale dimensions, and the microscopic mechanisms of mesoscopic electron and energy transfers have made great progress. In the areas of technological interest, all will benefit significantly from multidisciplinary research. Indeed, supramolecular assemblies with optoelectronic functionality will play a key role in nanoelectronics in the next century.
