ABSTRACT

Magnetic separators remove rough or sticky weed seed and other contaminants from smooth crop seed such as alfalfa (lucerne) and clover. They separate seed according to differences in the seed’s surface texture and ability to absorb a liquid. Rough or sticky contaminant seed, whose surfaces absorb an applied liquid, can be separated from smooth crop seed whose smooth surfaces do not absorb the liquid.
