ABSTRACT

Radiotherapy, like most cancer treatment services, is a complex and potentially dangerous process. It requires expensive and complicated equipment, highly skilled professionals, and, therefore, great attention to quality assurance. According to the International Standards Organisation (ISO), quality assurance (QA) consists of “all those planned and systematic actions necessary to provide condence that a product or service will satisfy given requirements for quality” (ISO 2008). is approach has generally been taken up in radiation oncology (Leer et al. 1995).
