ABSTRACT

A significant amount of gray wastewater is generated in households from washing and laundering. This wastewater contains anionic surfactants (AS) and detergents as the main polluting agent along with some turbidity. Due to low organic content, this wastewater do not turn septic and hence can find some other use if the AS and the turbidity are removed. The AS present in wastewater cause major problem due to foaming. It also gets deposited within tissues of living organisms causing severe metabolic disorders Turbidity imparts unpleasantness to water and harbors a site for breeding of pathogenic microorganisms.
