ABSTRACT

As the land expansion of metropolis accelerates, the emerging conflicts in the urban fringe areas are becoming increasingly acute. It is because, during the fast urbanisation, industries and migrated population aggregate in the urban fringe area (Gu 1999), leading to great demand for land resources. However, the supply of land resources is limited and currently, the land development is unbalanced and in low efficiency (Zou et al. 2004). Therefore, it is urgent to analyse the patterns of land development in the urban fringe area and explore the strategies for achieving sustainable development and balancing the supply and demand.
