ABSTRACT

Structural health monitoring (SHM) and damage detection have gained increasing attention in recent decades. In particular, vibration-based damage identification has been widely investigated as a research topic of SHM [Cao et al. 2012, Cao et al. 2013a], using various dynamic properties including natural frequency [Cao et al. 2014], mode shape [Cao et al. 2013b], modal damping [Lee et al. 2002], and so forth. Damage detection based on natural frequencies is a typical but active research area within the scope of vibration-based damage identification, because such a dynamic quantity is of robustness against noise and facilitation in acquisition [Cao et al. 2014].
