ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the features of interstitial lung disease of the more frequently encountered connective tissue diseases (CTDs) (rheumatoid arthritis [RA], systemic sclerosis [SSc], polymyositis/dermatomyositis [PM/DM], systemic lupus erythematosus [SLE], and Sjo¨gren’s syndrome [SS]) are reviewed. Pulmonary parenchymal disease occurs in all CTDs and makes a significant contribution to mortality, although pulmonary vascular disease in SSc (1) and bronchopneumonia in RA (2,3) and PM/DM (4,5) are also frequent pulmonary causes of death.
