ABSTRACT

Since the International Rugby Board's decision to turn the sport professional in 1995, staff and players have evolved and developed rapidly. A variety of performance analysis tools and other technological advances are now being utilised by teams and individuals to gain a competitive advantage by half a per cent, a second or a millimetre (Mellalieu et al. 2008). One area in particular has received considerable interest, with the aim of investigating the use of profiling to predict future performance (Mellalieu et al. 2008).
