ABSTRACT

Sigmund Freud has been marginalized in psychology and psychiatry in recent years, although it seems that in some circles, he is undergoing a revival. While Freud’s reputation may rise and fall, it remains true that we all live, to a large extent, in a world that he charted and explored. As someone who posited the existence of powerful unconscious forces and began to dig into our darkest corners, Freud “disturbed the sleep of the world,” and his influence has been profound.
