ABSTRACT

Information technology has been identified as a key enabler of integration of data and processes in industry, leading to efficient increases in project and enterprise management. This is taken to be true for the construction industry as well, although this industry with its highly fragmented nature poses unique demands on the way this integration can be accomplished (Dupagne, 1991). Each one-of-akind large scale project starts with the formation of a new ‘volatile’ project-based consortium structure. The inter-enterprise project management need has to be taken into account along with the intra-enterprise management of (many different) other projects.
