ABSTRACT
On 29 March 2012 the leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS), met in India, to lead the Fourth BRICS Summit. Only three days before, an article in the International Herald Tribune had dismissed BRICS as “an artificial bloc built on a catchphrase.”
