ABSTRACT

Danielle looked up at the towering curved glass ceiling of the exhibit hall, and marveled to herself at the tremendous journey it had been, from organizing a small ‘free trade’ store in San Francisco to occupying this gargantuan convention center in downtown Chicago. “Yet, somehow, we did it,” she mused, smiling, as she watched the crowds buzzing from one stall to the next, one stage to the other. The music and discussion from several different showcases blended together in one amazing cacophony that made her feel proud. This was the Green Festival at Chicago, arguably the largest and most diverse event dedicated to sustainable consumption and ‘green products’ in the United States, and Danielle was thrilled to be among the event’s main organizers.
