ABSTRACT

I wanted to relate the activity to the story and wanted to try and freeze water outside and not in the freezer. The weather was very cold. Two bowls were put on the table with a jug of water.

‘What do you think happens to water if it gets very cold?’ I asked. ‘It goes like ice’, Michael said. Rebecca asked, ‘Can we make water go cold and see if it turns to ice?’ I replied that that was what I wanted to try. The children poured some water into

the bowls: more in one than the other. Michael and Rebecca carried the bowls outside. The next morning the children eagerly asked what had happened to their bowls of water. Michael and Rebecca fetched them.
