ABSTRACT

It is one thing to claim that conceptual structure is tied to human embodiment. In itself, that is a striking enough fact, and it is one that undermines the classical view of concepts as disembodied. However, it is a far stronger claim to assert that reason itself is somehow grounded in the nature of our bodies. Following Frege, most philosophers insist that thought and reason must transcend the embodiment of any beings who think and reason.
