ABSTRACT

This perspective requires a redefinition of security. It suggests that the European security system has two mutually constitutive elements, the political-military and the economic. The interdependence of these two elements of the security architecture raises a set of important and

interrelated questions: What are the constituent elements and content of economic security? How do they interact with the military elements of security? These questions are addressed in this chapter.
