ABSTRACT
Transportation is a key component of the free trade infrastructure in North America. The North American Free Trade Act of 1994 (NAFTA) between Canada, Mexico and the United States sought to reduce trade barriers in order to encourage the rationalization of production, sourcing and distribution within North America. Efficient transport systems must exist within each country and between trading partners in order to facilitate such rationalization.
