ABSTRACT

The attainment of automated serials inventory control has been a major first step in serials automation for the University of Illinois Library at Urbana. The success of this control through the library’s Library Computer System (LCS) has greatly assisted both library patrons and library staff members as a short bibliographic record circulation system providing on-line circulation data as well as on-line capabilities for searching the library shelflist. The library’s plans for realizing complete automated serials control involve serials acquisition control and full bibliographic control.
