ABSTRACT

A psychologist working in a group private practice comes to believe that a couple of her colleagues are misrepresenting their employment experience in title, nature, and duration. This chapter presents the case study of Joy. Joy, one of the newer psychologists to join the practice, used to work in academe and thus has experience in editing written work in the form of theses, articles, and book chapters. Joy came to work at the practice through her connection with one of the counsellors at the practice, as they had worked together. As Joy begins reading the practitioner summaries she notes that some of the information presented is presented in a very positive form touting the experience and expertise of the practitioners involved. The individual was contacted by legal letter, sent on Joy’s behalf, instructing the individual was not to use Joy or the practice they just left nor any of its management as recommending agents.
