ABSTRACT

This chapter applies principles from feminist game studies to the project of prototyping playable systems that challenge the military policies of the Trump administration. It argues that such games could offer a protest against abdicating moral authority in conflict zones, obfuscating troop strength data from government websites, making alliances with authoritarian regimes, manifesting hostility to female, gay and transgender troops, and fostering tolerance for toxic masculinity on military bases. It suggests that as warfare becomes increasingly likely to be conducted by nonhuman agents, feminist wargames offer possibilities for humanizing tropes of combat.
