ABSTRACT

Success of a venture in the solar field is typically predicated on the growing public acceptance of a solar product based on the response of the public to continually increasing prices of conventional fuels. The perceived technical superiority upon which most solar component ventures rest may also contain the elements of failure if it is assumed that technical superiority assures market acceptance. Heat Mirror transparent insulation is a high technology material manufactured by deposition of a special coating on a transparent, colorless, plastic film. This coating makes the plastic film transparent to visible and solar energy, but highly reflective to heat. While it is impossible to list all the conditions sufficient to guarantee success of a venture, the more important ones can be identified. They include economic feasibility, marketing factors, and proprietary leverage.
