ABSTRACT

The issue of curriculum adaptation for particular contexts or populations is briefly introduced below with pointers to helpful resources. There are a vast range of other MBPs developed for different contexts and populations from the 'DNA' of both MBSR and MBCT. There are many advantages to training in MBSR and MBCT alongside each other: it emphasises the coherence of the MBP field as a whole, and with this, a clarity about the generic knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for MBP teaching practice. This chapter describes the distinctive features of any program that is mindfulness-based. For example, the title MBSR may have more meaning and be more appropriate for a general public population than MBCT. MBSR was designed for general populations so is naturally suited to this context though the MBCT for Life programme is also now taught for general populations.
